 As the search for Malaysia Airline Flight 370 continues, the focus of our 2015 Symposium will be “An Airplane Is Down In a Foreign Country: Chapter Two.

Even as the Blue Fin continues to scour the Indian Ocean, the developments we have seen to date provide a series of ongoing learning opportunities and object lessons for every airline which flies into a foreign country.

In 2013, we focused on the special considerations present when an accident occurs in a foreign country.  Recent events as they relate to ICAO Annex 13, the role of foreign investigation authorities, coordination issues, family assistance issues, media issues, release of information, the role of the NTSB, the role of State, as well as the airline role, demand that this area be revisited.  The simple truth is that every airline in the world and, for that matter, everyone, is watching the unfolding events.
